Makes sense to me. My car is an '03 Focus, so the collision is still worthwhile for another few years. And I NEED to keep mine in good shape because I still have two years of payments left to make and I want to have it live a long time after that.

Three windshields, though? Damn, that's rough. Are you commuting on a route with a lot of flying debris? Driving through construction areas was typically hellish down when I was in DC. One of my friends had a passenger window shatter in an incident similar to the one you described above.

Well the car in my pic, I would never! drive in winter.

And my truck that I drive in winter is always clean, and I think it scares people It has a 12" lift kit on it and some big tires. But, I do agree with you, people who dont take care of their car do annoy me. But if someone with snow on their tail lights is in front of me and puts the brakes on, they better say goodbye to their car because my truck will pretty much just hit the back bumper and climb up the back end. Im an agressive driver, people annoy me.

Oh Yes. 70 miles door to door one way to work. Mostly freeway. That was the thing I didn't see any gravel on the road. I believe the truck produced the stones off of it. I really wish they would make it mandatory for vehicles to have mud flaps. Especially pick-up trucks. Getting behind them makes me nervous with their big knobby tires and all. Also I would like to see State Troopers pulling over big rigs for flap violations and retreads they leave all over the highways.

eeek... you probably wouldnt like to drive behind me. The good thing is my tires are usually clean of rocks unless there are some on the road. And cars throw rocks too, dont be blaming trucks for everything. The thing that frusturates me the most is how the government puts down salt in winter. It causes rust, and uncleanliness.

Top 5 Things that tick me off on the road:

1) Drivers that are going slower than you, but when you attempt to pass them they speed up to keep you from passing.

2) lane weasels/lane breakers - drivers that excessivly switch lanes to "get ahead" and or they don't understand what the "Right/Left Lane closed ahead" sign means and wait until the very last second to get over thereby causing a traffic issue.

3)Litterers - Nuff said

4)Drivers that noticably cannot handle the size of the vehicle they are driving(older drivers that insist on driving the biggest vehicle they can get even though they can barely see over the dash/Drivers that have no clue that the Pickup/SUV/HUMMER they are operating is not a sportscar.

5)Drivers that don't use turn signals properly/at all.

I have a few problems with people driving.

I get incredibly pissed when there are any cars in front of me going at or under the marked speed limit.
I get even MORE pissed when there are any cars behind me, going any speed.

If people drive more aggressive than I do, they shouldn't be on the road. So I hate people that drive more aggressive than I do.

I actually hate all people on the road that aren't me. I drive the same road every day, and I could probably do it with my eyes closed, but it seems like twice a week I get some random person that has never been there before and insists on going dangerously slow on the road (there are lots of blind curves and random hills, fun to drive on).

And then sometimes people have the nerve to tailgate me, or pass me when I'm going a perfectly illegal speed. This usually ends up in a lot of pointless cursing and aggressive driving on my part, which will get me a ticket someday, but its totally worth it.

Be glad none of you will ever have to drive within 20 miles of me.

I just can't stand when people are completely oblivious to anything around them while they're driving.

For example I offer up a story of a recent "accident"

I was just leaving where I work and as I was going out of the parking lot, this lady in her brand new camry starts backing out with my car directly behind her (note that these are those slanted parking spaces so she is kinda in front of me). So I lay on my horn and this lady keeps coming. I put myself in reverse and back out plenty enough for her to get out, and she KEEPS COMING! (and don't forget I'm still on my horn). I had gotten to a point where I couldn't back up anymore because of a car behind me, and the lady backs out so far she hits my front bumper. When I pull into an open space to check out the damage (luckily for that lady she only scuffed my car, and I had just got a job so I was in a rather good mood, otherwise I might have blown up on her). She walks over and is all smiling and stuff like "I didn't see you there." I felt like shouting "NO SHIT SHERLOCK!" But I remained composed and didn't chew her out and give her a lecture about lookin where she goes and listening for other people.

And for the record, my car has alot of scuffs all over it already so I let her go without demanding insurance info. I also thought she got what she deserved with the large scuff across the back of her car ruining it's brand new paint job. (Amazingly she completely ruined the paint on her rear bumper while only taking about a 5 inch streak of paint on my front bumper).

Hey now...my mom's friend is handicapped and he drives better than most people who drive automatic that i know off.

Anyways...let me add some to this road rage list....

People who double park at a "NO STOPPING OR STANDING" street.

People who turn on their headlights AFTER they turned on to the street (almost hit a black cadillac a few nights back because he didnt bother to signal or turn on his lights till he was IN FRONT OF US)

People who are on the right lane while you are on the left and when the light turns green, decides to floor it, cut you off and turn left.

People for whom you slowed down so they can merge into the lane, only to have them HESITATE and not take the opening so you end up getting honked at from behind for trying to be nice and end up cutting the guy off who you were trying to give room for.

People who are behind you while you are merging into a highway and decide they wanna merge before you, effectively cutting you off and almost rear-ending you.

All good stories.

This morning was a fun drive into work. It was slushy & icy. Salt trucks were not out in force yet. (5am) So just changing lanes was effort and a white knuckle event. I drove mostly in the right lane the whole 70 miles to work. ( I am a middle lane Dood & 80mph usually) Until I got behind some one going too slow for conditions. (40-45mph) It was good enough to drive 50-55mph and play it cool. Then there were those that didn't think it was as bad as it was and they were flying around 75-80mph.

I noticed 6 cars in the ditch today. They just went in because there was no cop at this point and their flashers were bright. (meaning they were not worn down battery wise) so I plugged along at 50-55mph and hoped for the best. I was thankful I just installed good windshield wipers recently and Rain-X windshield juice. These new ones cost me $30.00 but they leave no streaks even if I do not use fluid.

Under normal conditions I can get away with 80mph because I drive a Buick Lesabre. They are thought as Old Men Cars. They have a built in Cloaking Device that cops just do not pay attention to a Buick and I can get away with 10mph over the 70mph limit. Ultimate Warrior's Red car would get pulled over in a heartbeat if we were neck and neck down the highway.

fun stuff Dood

Ultimate u know we have no idea. i drive a oldsmobile cutlass ciera also an old person car so i could go neck and neck w/ dood and not get pulled over but it just went and said it was overheating Saturday night but i never got any steam or anything. then on monday when i tried to see what was wrong i go no warm air from my heater on cold air. even when i had heat on full blast. but it still said my engine was overheating so i took it to my mechanic and he found nothing wrong. all he did was add coolant and flush my system i think and it didnt overheat when i took it home from the mechanics so hopefuly its better now. i getting oil changed in it tonite so hopefully it will be all better now. i was low on oil even though i kept telling my parents i need to get my oil changed for the past 2 months. my car is 11 years old and its been in the shop 4 times in the past 3 months! TAKE THAT! and still people insist on tailgating me when i have my hazards on. my car was apparenlty overheating and this guy just wanted me to go faster. taht way if it really was overheating it could BLOW UP IN MY FACE!! w00t!!! o well got to take it to school and back today so knock on wood its all better.

Did you have the mechanic check the Thermostat? Check for blockage on your cooling system...the heater core? That is odd he could not find out why...

As for the Cutlass Cieras, they are very abundant up here in Michigan. I see them pulled over all the time. Almost as much as Grand Am's and Grand Prix's.

well heres my thought. the guy that towed it said i have alot of sludge in my cooling system thus why the flushed it. i do believe that when the flushed it that it allowed my coolant to rereach my radiator and the rest of my cooling system. either taht or not enough was getting there because of the blockage. they changed my anitfreeze so im pretty sure that they flushed my system. the thermostat is fine evident of last night when i drove it home and it didnt overheat even though they didnt really do anything to it. im also low on oil so that could have something to do with it. the towing guy scared me when he told me i mite have a broken head gasket. those things cost more to repair then it would to trade in my car. thank goodness it wasnt that. unless it is and he was wrong and it wasnt completely broken yet but they find it today when they change my oil. wouldnt that suck... and i dont think he found anything because when they flushed the system it took away the blockage that he would of diagnosed as the problem probably.

Ahh...Well ALWAYS keep a quart or two of oil with you. Those little engines do not like being low on oil. Top it off even if it is only 1/2 quart low. Oil is cheaper then a major engine repair. My older Lesabre burns oil...you never see it because of the catalitic coverter burns it. (No blue smoke). I just top my oil all the time and get it changed every 3000 miles. This will make an engine last a long time. My Lesabre is at 197k miles. I expect it to last until 300K. The old 3.8 liter engine is a good one. Been around since the early 1960's. It is a six cylinder which is good enough for power and fuel economy. I get 27mpg on the highway...down from 30mpg. It is getting older however, I love driving my sofa down the road.

I love that! "Driving my sofa down the road" So true!

Dood, you have me beat for distance drove each day. However only half my drive is on a 4 lane highway, the other half is on 2 lane. A very busy 2 lane with MOST/ALMOST ALL the traffic going the opposite way to me. I hate these dark mornings when the glare from on coming headlights is SOOOOOO bright I can barely see the hood of my own car let alone the road. And don't get me started on the people with problems figuring out how to dim their lights.

With my experinence with Massachussets or even Boston driving...turn signals are a sing of weakness...using your brakes is for wimps...following the speed limit (outside of traffic jams) is more of a guideline than a rule.

I dont agree in full with this, since my mom is disabled and needs that handicapped sticker to get access to handicapped spots.
However, to relate to this point...I cant stand it when people that have handicapped stickers/plates drive a 2 ton truck or sports car. Ok, you have some physical disability, you cant walk very far or something to that matter....but you drive a vehicle which requires a bit of physical strength or dexterity. I'm sorry, but this seems ironic in a way to me.
Second thing that gets me, related to handicapped parking spots, are those without the stickers/bumpers that park in the no parking, yellow striped areas for handicapped vans or out front of stores in the fire lane. Ok, loading and unloading is fine and understandable. However, parking permanently or temporarily with someone sitting in the car doesnt make it right, just because you want to be in and out of the store real quick. Get off your lazy butt and walk a little more.
